There is one little berry that really packs an antioxidant punch – it is known as the acai berry. Pronounced ass-eye-ee, this berry is regarded by some as one of the most nutritious fruits on the planet. More recently, Acai has gained popularity along with the blueberry and cranberry due to its nutritious nature, and together these berries have been described as superfruits.
The acai berry has a long history of popularity in Brazil. It is said that many people in Brazil enjoy acai with granola in a bowl as a great source of nutrients . However, there are plenty of other ways for us to enjoy the acai berry here as well, such as in smoothies and juices, and supplements in capsule form.
Smoothies
Smoothies are a delicious way to enjoy acai berries if you want to combine other fruit with it. As many berries are available frozen, you don’t need to worry about having a fresh supply constantly in your fridge. To kick start the day, try combining acai berries, blueberries, and cranberries together for the ultimate – and tasty – super fruit smoothie.
Capsules
If you don’t want the fuss of preparing a smoothie each time but you do want the nutritious benefits of acai, you can opt for the convenience of acai capsules. As the berries are said to include the essential fatty acids Omega 3, 6, and 9 – as well as other vitamins, minerals, phytosterols and amino acids – these supplements can be an awesome addition to your diet. Acai capsules are available to purchase from all good health food retailers.
Juices
Acai berries are believed to have the taste of a luxurious blend of berries and chocolate. If you fancy a juice that tastes like berries and chocolate, acai juice may interest you. Acai juice can be a convenient and delicious way to get your daily dose of antioxidants; it has no smoothie mess, and no need to take supplements. Again this is also available from major health food retailers across the UK.
