Flax seed is often mistaken as the sesame seed but the difference is that flax seed has numerous benefits. It contains a lot of Omega 3 which is good for the body and needed by the heart. Omega 3 cannot be produced naturally by the body so we need to consume food that is rich in Omega 3.
Omega 3 is also good for the skin particularly for those who are in their teenage years. This is because it helps in balancing the natural hormones of the body and will result the excess oil that can cause pimple breakouts and acne. In addition to omega 3 there are numerous unique benefits that can be provided uniquely by eating the seeds or adding the oil to a meal.
It is also known to help in breaking down cholesterol and will help prevent the build up of new cholesterol. This is the reason why it is recommended for people who would like to build muscles or lose weight.
One of the sources of Omega 3 is flax seed. Flax seed is better known before to fight mild to moderate indigestion but now it is the choice of many people who would like to get their daily dose Omega 3.
Because flax seed is cheap and can be bought over the counter, a lot of people buy this instead of fish oil which we know is more expensive. However, fish oil contains more Omega 3 fatty acids.
If you do not really have a lot of budget for healthy food, it is better to buy flax seed than fish oil which both contain omega 3 because you can get the same benefits for a fraction of the cost.
It is also best to take in a lot of water when consuming flax seeds and also, flax seeds should be refrigerated at all times. Like other food, flax seed also has a best before seal and it is wise to check the best before seal first before buying the product.
It’s hard to be sure if flax seed is ideal for you but it’s definitely a good source of omega 3 that you should look into further since it’s an essential fatty acid for a reason!
